As heavy rainfall continues to batter Eastern France, several departments have been placed under orange alert for flooding, including Bas-Rhin, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Vosges. The most critical situation remains in the Moselle department, which remains under the highest red alert for flooding.

Orange Alert for Bas-Rhin, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Vosges

Météo-France, the national meteorological service, issued the orange alert for Bas-Rhin at 6:00 AM local time on Saturday, while Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, and Meuse had been upgraded to orange alert on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

Red Alert for Moselle

The situation in Moselle remains dire, with the department still under red alert for severe flooding risks. On Saturday, May 18, Météo-France placed Moselle on red alert due to the possibility of significant flooding.

Flooding Threat from Heavy Rain

The ongoing heavy rainfall has caused rivers to swell, raising concerns about potential flooding and other flood-related hazards. Officials urge residents in affected areas to take necessary precautions and monitor weather updates.
