Llamas, domesticated livestock, are descended from the guanaco, a member of the camel family, Camelidae. This family includes camels, alpacas, vicunas, and, of course, llamas. Reaching heights of 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet, llamas serve as valuable livestock for their ability to live in high altitudes and transport heavy loads.
