Wrexham Will Not Be Distracted By Derby Hype

Wrexham: Kean brushes off derby 'hype' as Reds prepare for Maidenhead clash

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has told his players to ignore the 'hype' surrounding Saturday's derby clash with Maidenhead United and focus on getting the job done.

The two sides meet at the Racecourse Ground in the National League, with Wrexham looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.

But Parkinson is keen to keep his players' feet on the ground and has warned them against complacency.

"We know it's a big game for the fans, but we can't get caught up in the hype," he said.

"We have to focus on our own performance and make sure we get the three points."

Wrexham have won their last five games in all competitions and are unbeaten in the league since August.

Maidenhead, meanwhile, are 12th in the table, but they have won their last two games.

Parkinson is expecting a tough game, but he is confident that his team can get the win.

"Maidenhead are a good side and they'll be coming here to make it difficult for us," he said.

"But we're in good form at the moment and we're confident that we can get the three points."

Wrexham will be without the suspended Paul Mullin for the game, but Parkinson has a number of other options available to him.

Luke Young is likely to start up front, while Ollie Palmer and Jordan Davies are also pushing for a place in the team.

Parkinson is likely to make a number of changes to his team from the one that beat Solihull Moors in the FA Cup last weekend.

Goalkeeper Rob Lainton is expected to return in place of Christian Dibble, while Ben Tozer and Aaron Hayden could come into the defense.

Wrexham will be looking to make a statement in front of their own fans on Saturday.

A win would extend their lead at the top of the table and send out a message to their rivals.

But Parkinson is keen to keep his players' feet on the ground and has warned them against complacency.

"We know it's a big game for the fans, but we can't get caught up in the hype," he said.

Wrexham will be confident of getting the win, but they will need to be at their best to beat a Maidenhead side that is in good form.

The game is likely to be a close
